When I think about the question, I end up looking at the site and come to the conclusion that a "modern mom" is probably a little lost here. The content is good, but the nav structure is a little hard on the brain.

The article flow needs to be broken down into some more specific categories related to questions that readers would be asking themselves. Right now they have to figure out what they are looking for, rather than be presented with a line of logic from you.

I would also look into adding a few more services that are valuable. Perhaps a "moms technology page" to provide useful tools, or a news aggregation page relating to some specific parenting sites they can see a quick "at a glance" review of your top picks.

Thanks Mutha Mae. I think this is why I've been thinking of changing the look - I find the same tips to be true when I browse other blogs. :)

I can give you the busy mom perspective. I have about 30 seconds per blog to make up my mind if I want to stick around and learn more about the person or not. I'd love to see something more personal in your about section at the top. I'm attracted to clean, simple designs. I don't have time to search around on each page. And I cannot stand ad clutter. I do love the shades of pink with the pearls. But yeah, I agree. Something really hip and modern that defines you as a person. Why are you called ModernMami? Show us with the logo. Fun, cannot wait to see what you do!!

Pretty much what Jean said. At the moemnt it looks very cluttered and the blurb under the posts are very distracting. Especially with the short posts.

Some tips from ideas that worked for us. They may not all be relevant: I'd make content more prominent, ads less (e.g. the Google ads under each post - makes it harder to consume) Show us more about you (name, etc) in you about page. Makes it easier to relate and connect. Ask yourself this question in regards to every element on the site: Does it serve my readers? Period. Even the ads. Every ad you show should be the ones that serve readers best. Arrange your badges so they are neat and don't detract. Hope these few thoughts provide a little help. - Jean
