It’s always something…isn’t it?
Sitting at work…and I receive this link.
Great. Now I have to go buy some glass bottles for baby girl.
I email the link to husband.
Husband: Always something, huh? Glass bottles, then?
Me: Yes, please. It might be a little “hippie” [long story], but she’s worth it.
Husband: Absolutely. Want me to stop on way home? [Isn't he the greatest?!]
So off he goes to find some BPA free or glass bottles and sippy cups.
Did you know that the Born Free bottles are $20 for a pack of 2??? Wow!
Thankfully, he found some from Evenflo that were MUCH cheaper.
The sippy cup, however….well, he couldn’t find any other brands and ended up paying $11 for one cup!
Maybe there’s some truth to it, or maybe not and it’s just a preliminary study, but whatever, anything for baby girl.
Here’s the link again one more time.
Oh! And, ignore the bad mom in the pic who has her back turned on her baby.
It’s all in preparation for tomorrow’s headline…

What are Some Good Rainy Day Activities?
It’s been raining the past two days here in Florida, which always makes for some “interesting” times.
No going to the park, no playing outside, just stuck inside the house.
And although the husband and I head out to work, baby girl is still stuck inside the house with her abuelos.
So, what are some good rainy day activities?
We usually spend some time reading, coloring, watching some movies, etc.
Baby girl also loves to have her picmics (translation - picnic). Picnic? On a rainy day?
Yes, picnics. We lay out a blanket in the middle of the living room and eat our snack or just sit down and read.
She loves picmics so much that she will go and grab a blanket and her plate and set it all up.
In short, the idea is just to keep her entertained - however we can.
If you need some more ideas, here’s a pretty good site full of rainy day activities. I especially want to try out the felt storytelling board - looks like fun!
What are some of your rainy day activities? I’d love to get more ideas.

Toddler Potty Training (What Not to Do)
Ok, so here’s what not to do when trying to potty train your toddler -
- Don’t listen to everyone else telling you it’s time
- Don’t buy a potty seat and hope that it will magically inspire your toddler to show interest in potty training
- Don’t let your toddler play with the potty seat
- Don’t laugh when your toddler takes the “bucket” and wears it
and finally…..
- Don’t expect much to happen at first
Ahhh, yes, the joys of embarking on the potty training journey….

Toddler Bed - Is it Time?
My 18 month old daughter climbed out of her crib last night.
She didn’t even cry or talk.
We have no idea how long she was up and out of her crib. Just that around 4:50 am, she said something (not sure what), and when the husband went to check on her, there she was. Standing by the door, holding her stuffed seal…waiting.
How did she climb out? No idea. I know she can put her leg up over the railing. I’m guessing she pulled herself over and dropped down.
So now what do we do? Do we move her to a regular bed? Do we leave her in the crib and take the front railing off? Won’t she fall in her sleep?
How did you handle it when your toddler climbed out of his/her crib?

Time Management Tips
Who’s Got the Time? Five Ways to Save Hours in Less Than a Minute
By: Christine Louise Hohlbaum
Time is a democratic commodity. Everyone has the same amount of it. Yet most people you talk to will tell you they don’t have any. Don’t buy it. Everyone has twenty-four hours a day. What your boss, spouse, neighbor, teacher, contractor or vendor is really telling you is something completely different. They are telling you they have other priorities: such as servicing another client, watching the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy or attending their child’s soccer game. It just sounds nicer to say you are out of time than that you are out of luck.
If you’ve fallen into the trap of saying you have no time, you’re not alone. Most Americans value their time more than their retirement funds. The question is what is time for?
Most would answer by closely linking their quality of life with how they spend their time. The real question is how much time do we actually spend doing the things we love? Goal-setting is integral to answering that question. To paraphrase Jack Canfield in The Success Principles, knowing where you want to go will get you there faster than if you don’t. Oftentimes we waste our time, however, on things that do not serve our ultimate needs and desires.
Juggling our commitments in this fast-paced world is not easy. It warrants, however, taking a step back to review how we might apply better use of our time. Test these five time-saving techniques on your own. You may find yourself saying yes to actions that will ultimately give you what you want out of life.

New Baby in the Family!
My brother and sister-in-law just had their baby last night!
I have a brand new nephew to add to the collection.
She was in labor for a little under 23 hours before they did a c-section.
My little nephew just didn’t want to make his way down the canal. Try as they did, he stopped mid-way.
All is well and everyone is healthy.
As dumb as it might sound, I asked her, “If he was already making his way down, how did they pull him back up to deliver him via c-section?”
She had no clue either and didn’t bother to ask. I don’t blame her.

Getting Toddlers to Eat Healthy
The search continues to get my toddler daughter to eat right. You might remember my previous post where I expressed my frustration with getting her to eat.
This article might help….
Getting Toddlers to Eat Healthy
By Mila Sidman Alice Seba
It may seem a daunting task but getting your toddler to eat healthy isn’t actually the difficult task it seems. In fact, the toddler years is the perfect age to instil good eating habits in your toddler. As kids get older and they have outside influences such as school, going to friend’s houses and the every popular media aimed at kids it gets much more difficult to get your kids to eat healthy.
So that’s the great news, now how do you get your toddler to eat healthy, nutritious foods?

Toddler Temper Tantrums Have Begun
It seems like baby girl cries for everything nowadays! Just this past weekend, she had gotten really bad!
Anything we say no to, or remove from her, she will throw a fit and will throw herself on the floor. I know this is normal tantrum behavior for a toddler and have been told by her Dr. to ignore the tantrum and not give in. But, like I said, it seemed to have gotten really bad in the past few days.
She has now started to hit her head on the wall, table, etc. during the tantrums. A few times, she’s also bit herself.
Needless to say, this behavior is really disturbing to the husband and I and we felt like we didn’t know what to do.
I spent most of Sunday crying and feeling really frustrated.
But, there is hope!
After doing some research on the internet, I decided to try a twist on the ignoring approach.
I found this great site with information on tantrums and what you can do. I tried his approach of “active ignoring” and it has worked twice already! The tantrums have not lasted as long and she calmed down on her own.
Hopefully if we continue to be consistent with this approach, the frequency of the tantrums will lessen as well.
If you have any tantrum experience or suggestions, feel free to share in the comments.

First Haircut Hints, Tips, and Advice
Baby girl has never had a haircut. Her hair isn’t very long, but I’m thinking of trimming the top of her hair to see if it will help to train the hair and possibly help it grow out some more.
I’m kinda tired of the mohawk look she’s had for a while!

Now, being that she’s a toddler, a very squirmy toddler, I’m a little scared she’ll get hurt. Plus, there’s no guarantee she’ll sit still for the length of the haircut.
So, I’m looking for any tips, hints, advice, ideas, etc., you might have on the whole first haircut experience.
If you’ve had a good experience, let me know.
If you’ve had a bad experience, also let me know.
Any suggestions will be of help.
Updated 5/10: I made an appointment for baby girl to get her haircut on Saturday. Wish me luck!
