Get Ready to Cry
Or not.
It might just be me.
But, here’s the story…
On Friday, I had my wisdom teeth pulled.
All four of them.
As I came home all high from the anesthesia, for whatever reason, I was crying.
It was that involuntary type of crying.
So my daughter, the cute lil thing she is, grabs some tissues from the bathroom, jumps up on the bed, and wipes the tears from my face.
But, wait, it doesn’t end there!
She then goes and gets me one of her books…and a teddy bear…you know, to make me feel better.
All together now…..
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
And then…(what, there’s more????)
Yes, more! lol
My husband tells her that mami is going to rest and sleep because she has an owie and she proceeds to…
What? What can top all that?
She sings me a lullaby!!!!
Yes, my two year old baby girl sings me a lullaby so that I can go to sleep and get some rest!!!
Of course at that point, my involuntary crying, became true crying.
I know, I know…she’s adorable and the sweetest thing on this Earth.
I warned you to get ready to cry!

My daughter’s a liar.
My daughter lied yesterday.
She got on the phone with her daddy and said “Look daddy! I’m eating rice.”
But she wasn’t. At the time, her abuela and I were trying to get her to eat some, though.
Is this a new phase I’m starting???
:banging my head against table:
Like i don’t have enough issues with communication with her.

Look What I Found!
Baby girl has a new phrase she’s been throwing about lately…
Hey mami (or daddy), look what I found!
The funny thing is that she’ll say this even when she didn’t find it - like if my husband or I have just given her something…
I can give her a cookie, a toy, a cup - really anything, she gets excited by the small things, just as I do.
Here’s the conversation:
Me (handing her the item): Here you go baby.
Baby girl will trot off humming her little happy song.
A few seconds later…
Baby girl: Hey mami, look what I found!
Me: What did you find baby?
Baby girl: [insert name of item I've just handed her]
I’ve heard the toddler years are the funniest…turns out, it’s pretty true!

An Honest Answer
While driving home with baby girl, I notice she’s playing with her new Backyardigans backpack.
So I decide to ask her about it (big mistake).
It’s important to know that her hands are through the bag’s straps and the bag is closed.
Me: You got your backpack?
Baby girl: yea
Me: What’s in your backpack?
Baby girl: my hands
Yea..thanks baby girl.
I fear you’ll be doing this many many more times - I don’t even want to THINK of what you’ll say when you hit the teenage years.

What are Some Good Rainy Day Activities?
It’s been raining the past two days here in Florida, which always makes for some “interesting” times.
No going to the park, no playing outside, just stuck inside the house.
And although the husband and I head out to work, baby girl is still stuck inside the house with her abuelos.
So, what are some good rainy day activities?
We usually spend some time reading, coloring, watching some movies, etc.
Baby girl also loves to have her picmics (translation - picnic). Picnic? On a rainy day?
Yes, picnics. We lay out a blanket in the middle of the living room and eat our snack or just sit down and read.
She loves picmics so much that she will go and grab a blanket and her plate and set it all up.
In short, the idea is just to keep her entertained - however we can.
If you need some more ideas, here’s a pretty good site full of rainy day activities. I especially want to try out the felt storytelling board - looks like fun!
What are some of your rainy day activities? I’d love to get more ideas.

My daughter’s a comical genius!
Husband: You want some juice?
Daughter: juice
Husband: Are you repeating what I say or do you really want some juice?
:silence:
Husband: You want some water?
Daughter: water
Husband: Ok, you’re just repeating…
Husband (holding ice cream bowl in hand and pointing): You want more? What’s this?
Daughter: bowl
Me: LMAO hehehe

A Budding Photographer…
Picture taken by baby girl with her new kid-tough digital camera

Yea, she prefers to blind herself instead of turning the camera around.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
Dear baby girl, aka the monkey:
Today you turn 2 years old. Wow, time has passed by super fast.
I still have the image of when I first saw you in the hospital engraved in my head.
You see, I didn’t get to hear you screaming as you were brought into this world. Or, see the nurses cleaning you up…
I heard you gave them hell, though.
Daddy says you were so strong and were holding on tight to the cords and wouldn’t let go.
Mami missed it, though. Mami was asleep.
But, as soon as I woke up, I asked about you.
In fact, I asked about you many many times.
Daddy was laughing at mami because I kept asking if he had seen you and if you were ok.
Mami was groggy from the drugs, baby girl.
But, then, they brought you.
And there you were, all bundled up in your beanie and swaddled in your blankie.
All I could see were two lil dark eyes peeking out at me.
And they were the most beautiful things in the world.
Now you’re becoming a big girl. Everyone else is a “baby”.
It sure has been fun these past 2 years. And, I can’t wait to see what other surprises you bring me.
So far, I know that you are super independent, very smart, and a lil diva. You’re definitely gonna give us a hard time when you get to be a teenager.
But, that is ok. It’ll be good for you to be a strong woman.
For now, though, you’re still my baby girl.
And even if you think you’re not a baby, you are to me.
So, happy birthday baby girl. Mami loves you.
