Christmas in June?
Baby girl has a favorite song.
She sings it all the time - every day - more than once a day.
And she makes you sing it with her.
If you don’t, she’s not happy.
She even gives you a cue: “And a one two three. Go.”
I’ve heard of Christmas in July, but Christmas in June?
It is at our house!
Yup, every day, we get a little bit of the Christmas spirit, as our baby girl sings Jingle Bells for us.
Won’t you join us?
All together now…
Jingle bells, batman smells, robin laid an egg…
Oh wait! That’s not the version she sings. Silly me.
But, is it stuck in your head now?

Toddlers Make up Great Stories!
Here’s the story my baby girl told us this morning - bright (actually not so bright as it was not even 6 am!) and early!
As told by my 2 and a half year old:
Once upon a time, there was King Daddy and Queen Mommy and Princess [her name].
Here’s your crown daddy.
Here’s your crown mommy.
[Daddy added a line - "And, here's your crown princess"].
The end.
It’s only great to us parents - I know. But, that’s all that matters.

Learning to Read
Baby girl read her first word!
I have a shirt that says “mom” on it - it was a Mother’s Day gift.
Well, last night, as I’m putting on her jammies, she points to the letters and says:
M - O - M - MOM!
Wow! The husband and I were just completely amazed.

My first boo boo
My daughter recently got a boo boo.
She fell down on the sidewalk while running and scraped her knees.
It’s been about a month since this happened and the boo boos have already healed.
Yet every time you ask her if she has an owie, she says:
Yes, I have owie.
Where?
On my knee. (And, she’ll point to the healed boo boo.)
She’s so traumatized by these boo boos that she doesn’t even like it when you wash her knees during bath time.
And she doesn’t like to wear shorts or dresses or anything that shows her knees. She immediately tries to cover them up so that her boo boos don’t show.
It’s the cutest thing and I can’t help but laugh at how concerned she is over these boo boos.
Do your kids have any memorable boo boos they don’t like to talk about?

My daughter’s a liar.
My daughter lied yesterday.
She got on the phone with her daddy and said “Look daddy! I’m eating rice.”
But she wasn’t. At the time, her abuela and I were trying to get her to eat some, though.
Is this a new phase I’m starting???
:banging my head against table:
Like i don’t have enough issues with communication with her.

Toddlers are like Twitter
I posted this on twitter the other night…
It’s ABSOLUTELY true.
Just about every 5 minutes, I’m asked, “Mami, what are you doing?”
And then it dawned on me -
She’s just like twitter!
Constantly flashing at you….What are you doing?
What are you doing?
And one more time - What are you doing?
Do you think toddlers have twitter accounts and she can just find out that way instead of constantly asking me?

Look What I Found!
Baby girl has a new phrase she’s been throwing about lately…
Hey mami (or daddy), look what I found!
The funny thing is that she’ll say this even when she didn’t find it - like if my husband or I have just given her something…
I can give her a cookie, a toy, a cup - really anything, she gets excited by the small things, just as I do.
Here’s the conversation:
Me (handing her the item): Here you go baby.
Baby girl will trot off humming her little happy song.
A few seconds later…
Baby girl: Hey mami, look what I found!
Me: What did you find baby?
Baby girl: [insert name of item I've just handed her]
I’ve heard the toddler years are the funniest…turns out, it’s pretty true!

An Honest Answer
While driving home with baby girl, I notice she’s playing with her new Backyardigans backpack.
So I decide to ask her about it (big mistake).
It’s important to know that her hands are through the bag’s straps and the bag is closed.
Me: You got your backpack?
Baby girl: yea
Me: What’s in your backpack?
Baby girl: my hands
Yea..thanks baby girl.
I fear you’ll be doing this many many more times - I don’t even want to THINK of what you’ll say when you hit the teenage years.

My daughter’s a comical genius!
Husband: You want some juice?
Daughter: juice
Husband: Are you repeating what I say or do you really want some juice?
:silence:
Husband: You want some water?
Daughter: water
Husband: Ok, you’re just repeating…
Husband (holding ice cream bowl in hand and pointing): You want more? What’s this?
Daughter: bowl
Me: LMAO hehehe
